Welcome to June! May was so busy and a rough month here on the homestead! We had so much to do with the garden, and I had a lot of doctor’s appointments for my MS. The fun part about the end of the month is my husband and I had a reading date with one of our favorite authors Julie Weaver. It was a fun and unique date for bookworms. I have officially entered into my Hockey and Protector reading era! I am quickly becoming a ‘hockey girl’ and I love those protective lovers!
Now that June is here, I have a new ‘working’ TBR, and I am still using my Cottagecore Book Reading and Review Planner to keep up with my reading list! Most of the books on this month’s list are from BookTok recommendations and some of our favorite authors. You can learn more about these books on my new podcast episode on Pagan’s Reading Nook, so make sure you go subscribe to Pagan’s Reading Nook!
So come join us with some of these titles this month!

My Hockey Era Books this month!
Game Six loss costing my team the Cup? Check.
Getting arrested and ruining my image? Check.
Almost getting run over after my car breaks down? Oh, look—a hat trick.
My contract is up with the Carolina Comets this year, and I need to get it together if I want to stay with the team.
I need relaxation, not a relationship.
But when I’m scrolling on a dating app and stumble across the pretty girl who almost ran me over, I know I can’t let her walk away this time.
Harper is funny, smart, and doesn’t care about hockey.
I’m not supposed to be focusing on anything other than my career, yet I can’t get Harper off my mind.
I know I shouldn’t fall for her…but I think I already have.
PUCK SHY is a standalone hockey romantic comedy. It’s good, low angst fun with some hot hockey players.
This was my first hockey romance book and I have been devouring this series ever since! I love Teagan’s fun and witty writing. The Comets guys are stealing my heart!
My Protector Era Books this month!
I can manipulate the emotions of anyone who lets me.
I will make you hurt, make you cry, make you laugh and sigh.
But my words don’t affect him. Especially not when I plead for him to leave.
He’s always there, watching and waiting.
And I can never look away.
Not when I want him to come closer.
I didn’t mean to fall in love.
But now that I have, I can’t stay away.
I’m mesmerized by her smile, by her eyes, and the way she moves.
The way she undresses…
I’ll keep watching and waiting. Until I can make her mine.
And once she is, I’ll never let her go.
Not even when she begs me to.
This is one of the books that still haunts me, but I am also excited and yet so nervous to read it. It is a BookTok top recommendation.
I was living the most ordinary life… until I found myself in the fae realm, imprisoned in an enchanted castle by four princes who turn into deadly beasts at night. As I grew to understand them and their world, I couldn’t stop myself from falling for them. But living in a fairy tale isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Especially when Keldarion, the prince I know to be my fated mate, forces me back to the human realm. I don’t know what he’s hiding, but I’ll do everything I can to get back to him and my other beasts.
And I have to hurry, because my princes need me. When Ezryn, Dayton, and Farron discover Keldarion lied to them about my disappearance, fur will fly. And we have to be united to face the coming challenges. A frost has fallen over the Autumn Realm and the blame is placed on Keldarion. Farron, the High Prince of Autumn, has been accused as a conspirator and lost all control of his lands and people. Unless the four High Princes can stop the terrible winter and prove Keldarion is not to blame, open war will tear across the Enchanted Vale. Throw in a wicked bargain with the Prince of Thorns (who won’t stop talking in my head), my jerky ex-fiancé who doesn’t understand the word ‘no’, and the terrible curse that gets worse each day… Yeah, we’ve got problems. Not to mention that every day that passes, I’m losing more of my heart to each of the princes, despite the fact I know it only puts me in danger.
Now, more than ever, I will need to find my courage and help Farron, the High Prince of Autumn, stop this war. And I will be right by his side… as long as he doesn’t kill me first.
WOVEN BY GOLD is the second book in a steamy adult Beauty and the Beast retelling multi-book series set in a fantasy fae realm. In this version, our beautiful bookworm doesn’t have to choose between the four sexy fae princes. It is a full-length novel that ends on a cliffhanger. It includes MF, MM, and MMFMM content. It is intended for mature readers only.
Bonded by Thorns is my all-time favorite book! I have been waiting rather impatiently for this book since I learned of its announcement! I am so thankful I get to dive back into the world of my favorite fae princes!
An Instant New York Times Bestseller
A Goodreads Most Anticipated Book

“Fourth Wing will have your heart pounding from beginning to end… A fantasy like you’ve never read before.” ―#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout
Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.
But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away…because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.
With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.
She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.
Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom’s protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.
Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.
The Fourth Wing is the BookTok sensation that is selling out everywhere, and in some cases is almost impossible to get one of the etched-edge hardback copies. I am so excited to read this book!
The Hit is a spicy, enemies to lovers protector romance featuring:
♥ A grumpy ex-black ops hero,
♥ The sunshine mechanic he’s sworn to protect,
♥ Touch her and you die vibes, and
♥ Forced proximity / stuck together in a remote mountain cabin.
Former Special Forces soldier, Elias “Shep” Shepherd believes the only use he has nowadays is taking out human scum on home soil. After years of harrowing military deployments, the one place he finds peace is at his remote Appalachian Mountain cabin, far from civilians and the world he doesn’t fit in anymore.
When Shep accepts a Mafia contract, he doesn’t expect his mark to be a woman—or the sexiest thing in grease-stained overalls he’s ever laid eyes on. She stirs something inside Shep’s battle-hardened heart. Despite the risks, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her, even if it means breaking his no visitors rule at the cabin.
Auto mechanic Cameron McKenzie only needs one look at the towering wall of muscle who’s kidnapped her to know he’s a killing machine. Too bad for him, she’s not going down without a fight. Hidden away in his isolated mountain home, Cameron is reluctant to admit Shep might not be the heartless beast she thought he was. And as their mutual trust builds, so too does an intense desire for her unlikely savior.
If the Mafia discovers Cameron is still alive, Shep will need every one of his elite skills to keep them both safe. Although he’s no longer sure which is more dangerous—the enemy’s demand for merciless retribution, or the woman who makes him wish he was worthy of her love.
The Hit is a standalone romantic suspense thriller with edge-of your-seat action and sizzling chemistry.
Please check trigger warnings. This book contains sexual content, violence, and profanity.
I saw an ad for this book on my Kindle and immediately downloaded it. I have a thing for military men with a deep protective side. This series has all of that. Julie has smart, fun, and sexy writing that brings you into the hearts of Team Zulu.
The only man who can keep her safe is her boss’ gorgeous brother.
Museum curator Haven McKinney has sworn off men. All of them. Totally. She’s recently escaped a bad ex and started a new life for herself in San Francisco. She loves her job at the Hutton Museum, likes her new boss, and has made best friends with his feisty sister. Haven’s also desperately trying not to notice their brother: hotshot investigator Rhys Norcross. And she’s really trying not to notice his muscular body, sexy tattoos, and charming smile.
Nope, Rhys is off limits. But then Haven finds herself in the middle of a deadly situation…
Investigator Rhys Norcross is good at finding his targets. After leaving an elite Ghost Ops military team, the former Delta Force soldier thrives on his job at his brother’s security firm, Norcross Security. He’s had his eye on smart, sexy Haven for a while, but the pretty curator with her eyes full of secrets is proving far harder to chase down than he anticipated.
Luckily, Rhys never, ever gives up.
When thieves target the museum and steal a multi-million-dollar painting in a daring theft, Haven finds herself in trouble, and dangers from her past rising. Rhys vows to do whatever it takes to keep her safe, and Haven finds herself risking the one thing she was trying so hard to protect—her heart.
Note to readers: This is a sexy, fast-paced, action-packed romantic suspense with a heroine in danger who’s sworn off men (and gets kidnapped…a lot) and a hot, tattooed former military hero (who looks fine in a suit and rolls his sleeves up showing off his ink).
**Each book in this action-packed romance series can be read as a standalone.
My husband found this book series and read the whole series in a week! It was so good that I knew I needed to read it too!
